Studio 1482 is happy to announce that after several months of research, planning, and a whole lot of designing, the new Studio site is up and running. We have streamlined the interface to give our clients a friendlier experience as they click their way through our illustration portfolios. With the new site comes new work by each of the members and an integrated design with the other Studio projects. In the coming weeks the finishing touches will be put on Gallery 1482, Go Do It, and our improved mailing list, where clients will be able to sign up for all Studio announcements, publications, and promotions. Thanks and we hope you enjoy.
2008 brings with it exciting prospects and the arrival of our revamped Studio 1482 portfolio site. As we look back on the past year our reportage work is spreading and our commissioned illustration continues to appear in new places each month. Greg Betza has been getting plenty of attention in the editorial world, Michele Bedigian has had her hands full on several projects across many industries, Eddie Pena was asked earlier in the year to create a series of drawings that were later used as a backdrop to a national convention, while several of the members were approached through out the year to lend their illustration work to the labels of wine makers across the country. Charlotte Noruzi released her self-published children’s book, Grow, Watermelon, Grow and has seen great success and is looking forward to what the new year brings. Both Veronica Lawlor and Margaret Hurst saw each of their work acknowledged at nationally judged shows this year. Veronica was showcased in San Diego, California, where her video short, “Collective Innervation”, was exhibited at the Art of Digital Show, held at the Lyceum Theater Gallery. Margaret’s fabric art piece, “Elephant Run,” was selected as a finalist and exhibited in the 2007 International Quilt Festival “Quilts: A World of Beauty,” show in Houston, Texas. Just over a week into the new year and we are digging in for 2008.
With the launch of the new site we also introduce reportageillustrators.com, the hub for all things Studio 1482. This blog is a portal to all the projects, individual blogs, work and news for Studio 1482 members. As always you can find our portfolio work at studio1482.com, our gallery work at gallery1482.com, and in depth thoughts and musings at each of our blogs listed to the right. We welcome any comments and look forward to the year ahead. On behalf of Studio 1482 we wish you a safe and happy New Year.

Dominick Santise catches us up with three new Life On Second posts.
In August, Greg Betza was asked to illustrate a monthly etiquette column for Gulfshore Business magazine called ‘The Buzz’. See October’s illustration here.
Two new entries by Dominick Santise, The End of the Rainbow and Not The Dump Truck, find the construction creating a new maze along Second Avenue and no treasure at the end of the Rainbow.
In the ongoing reportage of the New York City subway construction on Second Avenue Studio 1482 member Dominick Santise finds that everyone has an opinion and nothing is sacred, except the dump truck.
The third issue of Go Do It finds our format taking hold and with it a display of some incredible interpretations of what it means to be urban. This issue introduces three new sections to the magazine that highlight the Studio members in a different light. Our “Spotlight On Illustration” showcases Eddie Pena and his 2007 reportage for the design firm Integer Group, Michele Bedigian’s photo of the Harbor Bridge in Sydney, Australia is the centerpiece of our first “Spotlight On Photography,” and Despina Georgiadis interviews Margaret Hurst for our new “Art Of” series that provides a little background on our feature story artist. This month’s feature is “The Site,” Margaret’s reportage of a New York City construction site where the people are the story and the building the background. Kati Nawrocki starts off the issue with her personal story of the connection between the rituals of a latino barbershop and those of her mixed heritage in “The Shapeup.” Rounding out the urban story we go from one end of the spectrum where we find the beauty and fantasy of “Central Park” by Veronica Lawlor, based on her commission for Mandarin Oriental hotel in New York’s Columbus Circle, to the grit and strength of the origin of so many of our American cities in “Down in the Valley,” a photo essay by Dominick Santise on the old Bethlehem Steel site in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. As always we hope you enjoy and look forward hearing what you have to say.
