Studio 1482 member has reportage illustration exhibited in Newseum

a-muslim-man-speaks.jpgVeronica Lawlor, one of our Studio 1482 members, has her reportage work from September 11th exhibited in the newly opened Newseum, the Museum of Journalism in Washington DC. The drawing is in the History of the News Section, in an exhibited entitled, “Who Controls the News?” (Shown here is a drawing of a press conference held by Muslim religious leaders in Union Square Park a few days after the attacks.) Please click here for a link to the museum, or here for a link to our 9/11 blog site. Ms. Lawlor was in downtown New York on September 11, 2001, and made reportage drawings of the events as they unfolded. She continued the story, making reportage drawings of the Trade Center site and around New York City in the days and weeks that followed the attack. The collection has been exhibited at Montserrat College of Art in Massachusetts and in November, 2006 at the New York City Fire Museum. The reportage series will soon be released as a book: more information will follow on this blog site. We at the Studio are honored to be represented at the museum.
